Our General Health & Safety Policy

Banner Cross Methodist Church will strive to ensure the well being of all users of church premises.

We will achieve this by:

1 Providing adequate control of the health and safety risks arising from our activities;

2 Consulting with our members on matters affecting their health and safety;

3 Providing and maintaining safe buildings and equipment;

4 Ensuring the safe handling and use of substances;

5 Providing information, instruction and supervision for all users of our premises;

6 Ensuring all leaders are competent to do their tasks, and to give them adequate training;

7 Preventing accidents and cases of work-related ill health;

8 Maintaining safe and healthy conditions; and

9 Reviewing and revising this policy as necessary at regular intervals.

Responsibilities Of the Church Leadership

Overall and final responsibility for health and safety is that of the Circuit Superintendent.
Day-to-day responsibility for ensuring this policy is put into practice is delegated to the membership of the property committee and is enacted by the building caretaker.

Responsibilities of the Church Users

All members and users of our premises shall:

1 Co-operate with leaders on health and safety matters;

2 Not interfere with anything provided to safeguard their health and safety;

3 Take reasonable care of their own health and safety; and that of other users.

4 Report all health and safety concerns to an appropriate person
