Prayer for Joan’s Thanksgiving
Lord Jesus
We thank you for the life of Joan and all she has meant to us.
Joan, Mum, Grandma, Mama, Sister, Sister-in-law, friend, Aunty Joan.
And that at last we can celebrate her life together as she planned and as she deserved.
We give thanks for happy times spent with her.
If we close our eyes and have this time of quiet, we can bring back some of those memories:
Her love of little sayings, many of them to teach her children well – such as ‘’always treat others as you would like to be treated’’.
Her beautiful crafts and especially the knitting she did for us all.
Her lovely nails which she took great pride in – in different designs and colours, every few weeks.
We can smell delicious apple pie and her yummy Yorkshire puddings.
See her little red car pull up at the front.
Watch her playing games with the grandchildren.
Enjoying BBQs in the sunshine – with a chilled G & T.
Dancing to 60s music in the kitchen with the son-in-law from hell – her pet name for Derek – she loved him really!
Reading her kindle when relaxing.
Singing loudly in the car – and not necessarily in tune!
For such bravery in the face of her sickness and pain.
But mostly thank you for the love and the laughter we shared with her.
Amen
