BBC Newsnight: Talking to unpaid carers on repaying carers allowance
BBC Newsnight featured Victoria Derbyshire talking to unpaid carers who had been asked to repay carers allowance. The situation has left many feeling that it is both wrong and unfair. This episode helps to highlight the substantial debt faced by carers as a result of these repayments. Watch the full episode, which was aired May 13 on the BBC, by clicking on more details.

Petition to Review and reform Carers Allowance
We are supporting a new petition calling for a review and reform of the Carers Allowance to increase support and reduce overpayments for unpaid carers. Thousands of carers are incurring substantial debt as a result of Carer’s Allowance overpayments, sometimes due to going over the earnings limit by as little as £1. Show your support by signing this petition.

Sheffield Carers Death Cafe: A safe space to speak openly about death
Discussions about death don't often happen and one aim of the cafe is to make these conversations more normal. This isn't a grief support group but a chance to raise awareness of the subject. Carers are invited to this free event on Thursday 30 May, to listen and discuss in a welcoming and respectful space, and to share your thoughts and feelings.

Manifesto for carers ahead of the 2024 general election
Carers UK recently launched their manifesto for unpaid carers ahead of the general election. It's essential that the next Government understands the challenges unpaid carers are facing, and the upcoming Election provides an opportunity to ask all political parties to commit to significant policies to transform the lives of millions of carers. You can view more details to read the full manifesto.

Sheffield Teaching Hospital have launched a new Carer's Passport
This Carer's Passport Scheme identifies you as being in a caring role and allows you to be involved in the patient's care and connecting you with further support. The passports are available on all inpatient wards. There is also a new webpage with information and support for when the person you care for is in hospital. View more details and visit the webpage.

Did you attend our Walk & Talk accompanied by Songs of Praise?
We want to thank everybody that attended our Walk and Talk at Whirlow Hall Farm on the 2nd of May with BBC's Songs of Praise. This episode will air on the 9th of June. Our monthly Walk and Talk takes place the first Thursday of each month and welcomes all carers. Click more details and view a collection of photos taken throughout the walk on our website.

Relaxed concert featuring ‘The Carnival of the Animals’
For this relaxed concert doors will be left open, lights raised, and a break-out space provided with less emphasis on the audience being quiet. People with an Autism Spectrum, sensory or communication disorder or learning disability, those with age-related impairments and parents/carers with babies are all especially welcome. Tickets are £5 and Carers go for free.
