Far greater commitment to unpaid carers needed in 2024
Carers UK shines a spotlight on the overwhelming challenges faced by unpaid carers in providing round-the-clock care for their loved ones. With a call for urgent attention and investment in the social care system, the organisation emphasises the crucial need to support carers in maintaining their well-being and resilience.

Have you heard about our carers massage service?
We all know that caring can be stressful, maybe a relaxing massage could help! Sarah Clarke from ‘Rest Therapy’ is offering free massages for carers but places are limited! There are four spaces available for each session on 23rd February, 5th April and 31st May between 10am and 12.15. View more details to make your booking - This event is strictly by appointment.

Event highlight of the month
Greenfingers Allotment Group
Our event of the month is our Greenfingers Allotment! We enjoy observing the changing seasons and having a look what is growing but the green fingered stuff is left to the experts! If you would like to join us for a chat and a brew you would be more than welcome. There is always tea and cake and a nature based craft activity. View more details to make your booking.

What new job opportunities are there at the Sheffield Carers Centre?
We've recently began recruiting for some new positions at the Sheffield Carers Centre and it is now the last chance to apply for our business support officer role. A key role within our charity - this person is a first point of contact who provides high quality administrative and reception support to Sheffield Carers Centre. View more details to join our team!

Free mental health workshop for carers in Sheffield
Join other carers for a free workshop led by a mental health professional from Sheffield Mind to find more about mental health, and learn how to look after yourself. It's important to take care of your wellbeing this winter so why not join this free workshop on Wednesday the 24th of January at Sheffield Mencap and Gate way, Norfolk Lodge, Park Grange Road, S2 3QF.

Social friendship lunch events in Sheffield for carers
This is a monthly social event with live entertainment held at some lovely restaurants and pubs with tickets including a delicious 2 course lunch. The friendship lunch is also 'dementia friendly' and therefore ideal for those living with dementia and their families/carers. You can meet old/make new friends, dine, and have a dance in a warm and safe environment.

Are you caring for somebody coming out of hospital?
When a family member or friend is in hospital you might be concerned about what will happen when they leave hospital. If you were caring for them before their hospital stay, you may be wondering if their needs have changed, or you may be preparing to take on a caring role for the first time. Find information and advice from our animated video or PDF guide.

FREE upcoming led group bike rides around Sheffield
These rides are suitable for all cyclists as the pace is slow and there will be plenty of stops on the way. They stop for a rest and to buy refreshments at their destination and once they have finished (optional). These rides are great to get that dusty bike out your garage and take it for a ride or hire a bike and take part to build more confidence riding around Sheffield.

Sheffield plant swap taking place at the Botanical Gardens
Bring your spare house plants along to swap and share at the next Sheffield Plant Swap at the Dorothy Fox Education Centre in the Botanical Gardens. Even if you’ve nothing to swap, you can head down and take home a small plant. This is a great social setting to exchange plants as well tips and knowledge. The event dates begin from the 28th of January.
