Carers Leave Act will be starting from the 6th of April 
Employees with a dependant will be entitled to up to one week unpaid leave to give or arrange care. They will be entitled to carers leave from their first day of employment but must give notice of a minimum of three days or at least twice the amount of notice as the period of leave. The dependant doesn't need to be a family member. You can watch our short video guide here

Carer Poverty Coalition: General Election Manifesto 2024
Along with 130 other members of the Carer Poverty Coalition, we have launched a joint manifesto calling on all political parties to commit to taking action to end poverty amongst unpaid carers, ahead of an upcoming General Election. The manifesto sets out key policy recommendations for a future Government to ensure carers receive the support they need.
 
Music Makes Memories Friendship Lunch at Chapeltown
The is a 'dementia friendly' event, offering invaluable respite for many families/carers. Guests are treated to a delicious two course lunch and live entertainment. These lunches give people something to look forward to and to get dressed up for. They can dine and have a dance in warm and safe environment. The event takes place on Wednesday 10th April.
 
'Much Ado About Dying' showing at the Showroom on 25 March
This award-winning film highlights Simon's journey and experiences of being a carer for his 85-year-old Uncle David. He knows caring can "sometimes be an isolating and lonely experience for the 6.5 million carers in the UK but is such an under-valued, unpaid and invisible job." Much Ado About Dying presents an intimate and moving portrayal of Simon's caring role.

Learn how to perform CPR in a 15 minute FREE online course
Each year over 30,000 people have an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest in the UK. CRP saves lives but just not as many as it could as there are far too few people that know how to perform it. If you know or care for somebody with heart issues this free online training can teach you how to save a life and receive your very own CPR certificate.
 
Sheffield Medicines Amnesty campaign has been launched
Residents of Sheffield are being encouraged to return any unwanted medicines to any pharmacy in a bid to reduce harm to the environment and ourselves. Dr Honey Smith, NHS South Yorkshire Clinical Sustainability Lead said: “If you have medication in your house that is out of date or you are never going to use, please return it to any pharmacy for safe disposal."
