Letters from Tim

Dear Friends,

There is a food and drink theme in this letter.

A huge thank you for the donations of food and money at our Harvest Festival service. All the produce was taken to the foodbank at Foodworks in Sharrow, where they were gratefully received, £90 was handed over too.

We are now enjoying refreshments after our services. It helps us to reconnect and support each other. While we are still working some of the practicalities, it would be good if we can remember to make a donation toward our drinks, a suggested donation is £1.  Many of us are not carrying cash now, which makes this tricky. Some exploratory steps to have a card reader are being made, but if you have any other suggestions, please let me know.

The leadership team met this week and looked at the possibility of having the Saturday morning coffee mornings. We agreed that here is no reason in principle why this should not happen. The practical implications are that we need people to open up, set up and clear up (Mandy no longer works on Saturdays), and of course serve the coffees. And again we need to work out how we pay too. Would someone like to coordinate this please, to trial it to see if there are enough takers?

There is a Christmas meal at the Toby Carvery at Dronfield, on  Friday 10th Dec, at 6pm. If you are interested, please let Chris Rowe know asap, thank you.

Chris is also coordinating our giving of bags of goodies to the homeless shelter for Christmas. Apparently there are more men than women using the shelter, so Chris will draw up a list of suitable items, email it round and put a list up in church.

Peace

Tim
