Dear Friends,
I am sure that you have already been finding ways to offer support and assistance to those caught up in the Afghanistan crisis. While the political situation in and around Afghanistan remains uncertain, there will be the need for humanitarian support for those many refugees fleeing their homeland in to neighbouring states. Thus giving through the aid agencies will be vital.
Closer to home, for those who managed to get flights out of the country and who have arrived for quarantine in this country, the need to find homes and support for them here is happening now.
The will be some coming to Sheffield, which proudly is a City of Sanctuary, offering help and support to many refugees and asylum seekers. This important work of the kingdom, welcoming the sojourners and foreigners, the widows and orphans has been going on for decades through the City of Sanctuary organisation, Assist and others.

Many of the families who have fled and who are coming to Sheffield have many children. So to find suitable accommodation in areas where there are spaces in schools will be challenging. If nothing else pray for these traumatised people and those sorted out their needs under difficult circumstances.
