Letters from Tim

Dear Friends,

It is now nearly two years that we have been living with the effects of Covid in our lives. Many aspects of our day to day lives continue to be deeply affected. The number of deaths in this country now exceeds 150,000, and some would say it is much higher, depending on how you do the counting.

Those who have had Covid, sometimes more than once, have their own tales to tell. The hundreds of thousands who live with long Covid, face an unknown future with very debilitating symptoms. Of course those who have lost loved ones have borne the hardest burdens.

In the church we have adapted in many ways to make our communal gatherings to be as safe as possible and we continue to follow the necessary guidance.

Since the first lockdown we have tried to keep in touch with one another in many ways, using phones, visits where possible and have shown love for each other in all sorts of practical ways.

I have lost track of how many letters I have written during this time and we have sent out a service resource each week too. For me, it has been both a challenge and a privilege to write a letter every week. I have tried to have something to say which might be reflected upon, hopefully the letters may have been encouraging throughout the darker times, and some have indicated this.

I am very happy to continue to do this over the next couple of months, but it would be helpful to know whether you would like them to continue. Similarly, with the service resource, which has been produced for those who perhaps could not get to worship in the times of lockdown. Has this been, and is it still helpful to you?

The last thing I want is to send material which is not useful to you. Some feedback would be good so that we can consider how be helpful in these challenging days.

Peace

Tim
