Dear Friends,
Next week is when the Covid restrictions are lifted by the government. The responsibility for keeping people safe is now firmly placed on individuals and organisations. This is no different for us in the church and we now have to look at how we do this responsibly and carefully.
We know that not everyone thinks and feels the same about distancing and mask wearing but he government itself while lifting restrictions on the one hand, in the same breath urge caution. This is as the infection rates are soaring.
In order for us to find a consensus for our life together at Banner Cross the leadership team propose that we use our time in worship on Sunday 25th July to look at these issues. So in the context of worship we will look at a number of proposals together. These will be distributed next week before the service, so that people can consider them. We will discuss them and listen to one another in the service and then, after the service, the Church Council members will remain behind to decide what our approach will be.
In this way, we will listen to a variety of views and will come to a mind as to how we in Banner Cross will proceed. This timetable also allows us to consider guidelines issued by the government and the national church so that we can be as best informed as possible.
So until we have had that opportunity to decide these things we will continue following the current guidelines.
On a lighter note. The weather his weekend looks good. So if you would like to bring your own picnic on Sunday (food drinks and chairs) we can have a picnic munch on the grass at church. Please spread the word.
Peace
Tim
