Letters from Tim

Dear Friends,

You may recall that I floated an idea with you about sharing some experiences of 40 years of ministry in a series of discussions. I invited expressions of interest and have received some positive responses.

This will not be an evening full of reminiscences, but rather the chance to reflect together on some of the changes and challenges with which we now live and which impact on our future patterns of discipleship and being church.

I have found some of the most meaningful experiences have been when ministering ‘on the edge’.  On the edge of the life of the church, of society, of culture.  One could describe the church as we know it today, being increasingly on the edge and perhaps marginalised.

So, using the overall title ‘On the edge - ministry on the margins.’ We will explore four areas which will hopefully engage your interest, perhaps offer a challenge, and may be allow us to hear God’s continuing call beyond the walls of the church.

All the meetings will be at 7.30pm Banner Cross either in room 6.

10th November              Inside out – placing the inner city on the outer edge

1st December                 To wear or not to wear – hospital chaplaincy

2nd February                   Bluewater a shopping experience - retail chaplaincy

16th March                      What is community? Responding to 90,000 new build homes

I look forward to seeing and sharing with you.

Peace

Tim
