Worship

EASTER DAY WORSHIP TOGETHER -  8am on Sunday 12th April
(may be linked to breakfast as we do at the early morning open air Easter Day service)

Light a candle, spend a short time in silence and then the following words are said:

We worship together, as we say together:
On this day, Christ was raised from the dead
and he lives forever more. Alleluia!

READING Luke 24:1-6 (GNB)      Read the following out loud

Very early on Sunday morning the women went to the tomb, carrying the spices they had prepared. They found the stone rolled away from the entrance to the tomb, so they went in; but they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. They stood there puzzled about this, when suddenly two men in bright shining clothes stood by them. Full of fear, the women bowed down to the ground, as the men said to them, "Why are you looking among the dead for one who is alive?  He is not here; he has been raised.

READING – John 20:19-22    then read the following out loud

It was late that Sunday evening, and the disciples were gathered together behind locked doors, because they were afraid of the Jewish authorities. Then Jesus came and stood among them. "Peace be with you," he said…..  The disciples were filled with joy at seeing the Lord.  Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you. As the Father sent me, so I send you."  Then he breathed on them and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit.

The song ‘Because he lives’ can be sung unaccompanied, or said, or sung to the video   Because he Lives

God sent His Son, they called Him Jesus.
He came to love, heal and forgive.
He lived and died to buy my pardon.
An empty grave is there to prove my Saviour lives.

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow
Because He lives, all fear is gone
Because I know He holds the future
And life is worth the living, just because He lives

How sweet to hold a new born baby,
And feel the pride and joy He gives.
But greater still the calm assurance,
This child can face uncertain days, because He lives

     Because He lives….

And then one day, I'll cross the river
I'll fight life's final war with pain
And then, as death gives way to victory
I'll see the lights of glory and I'll know He reigns

Because He lives ……   (repeat last line)

We say the grace together:

The Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Love of God and the Fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
be with us all, evermore. Amen.
